We respect your privacy. What we collect
- When you send a message or ask about a machine or property: your name, company (optional), email address, telephone number, your message and the listing you asked about.
- Technical information: your IP address is used briefly, in scrambled (hashed) form, to block spam and limit repeated messages. It is not used to identify you and is kept no longer than 24 hours for that purpose.
- Your cookie choice: stored in your own browser so we don’t ask again.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as health, financial or identity-document information through the website.
- If you buy, sell or rent with us (by phone, email or in person): the details needed to complete the transaction, such as your name, company, billing and delivery address, and information about the machine you are selling us. Payments are handled by financial institutions; the website never collects credit card or bank information.
Why we use it
- To answer your questions, prepare quotes and arrange inspections, sales, shipping, rentals or purchases.
- To keep a record of our business dealings with you.
- To protect the website against spam and abuse.
Our contact forms are used only to answer you. We never harvest, sell, rent, trade or share email addresses or any other contact information, and we never add you to a mailing list. We contact you only about the request you made, unless you ask us to keep you informed.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website itself uses only cookies that are essential for it to work. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to measure website traffic (such as how many people visit and which pages they view), and we embed optional content — the Google Maps map on our Contact page and YouTube videos on some machine and property pages — which set their own cookies. None of this loads or sets any cookie unless you choose “Allow” in the cookie notice (the map can also be loaded with “Show the map”). We do not use advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.
Who may handle your information
Our staff who need it to serve you, and service providers that host or deliver the website and our email: our web host, Cloudflare (website delivery and security), Sanity (website content and images) and Google (website traffic measurement through Google Analytics, and email). Some of these providers store information outside Québec, including in the United States. Before using them, we assessed that they protect personal information adequately, and they may use it only to provide their service to us.
We may also disclose information when required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries only as long as needed to answer them and follow up on your request. If you buy, sell or rent with us, transaction records (such as invoices) are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, generally six years. After that, we destroy or anonymize your information.
How we protect it
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our contact forms are protected against automated abuse, access to your information is limited to people who need it, and our providers use industry-standard security. If an incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d’accès à l’information as required by law.
Your rights
- Ask whether we hold information about you, and get access to it.
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Withdraw your consent, or ask us to stop using or to delete your information, subject to our legal obligations.
- Receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
To make a request, contact the person in charge named above. We will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Children
Our website is intended for businesses and adult private buyers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 14.
